Extra! Extra! Read all about it! A Newspaper Wedding Invitation!

When designing custom wedding invitations the most exciting part of the design process is when I get to learn about my bride and see if she’s a romantic bride, a sentimental bride, a daring bride or a comedic bride. And when I’m really luck, they’re an all-in-one bride, which was definitely the case for the design of this Newspaper Wedding Invitation.

Lindsay and Jos were to be married at Casa Romantica in San Clemente and wanted to bring in the old world romantic charm of the venue while also showing off an their hilarious sense of humor considering that they first met in a comedy club. And so the art nouveau style Romantica Times Newspaper was founded. We created a classic folded newspaper style invitation complete with various sections such to provide the guests with all of the important and fun details of their wedding to follow.

For the front page news we featured Lindsay and Jos in their dapper attire announcing the ‘merger’ that was to come.

Inside in the ‘Local’ section we created a review of the historical Casa Romantica complete with information about its legendary keyhole entryway.

Playing in tune with their comical blue blood style coverpage photo, we placed the actual invitation under the ‘Society’ section to invite their honored guests to this must attend event of the season.

Keeping in theme with the invitation, the RSVP was designed as a Letter to the Editor, leaving the guests that dare check the ‘cannot attend’ choices such as ‘Wardrobe Issues” or “Fun is Overrated”.

Under the ‘Classifieds’ section Lindsay and Jos wrote personal ads describing the person that they seeked to find but had actually already found. Lindsay’s read lines such as “SWF Seeking: Must have a strong love of family and even stronger sense of humor. Chardonnay lover preferred. Knowledge of classic rock mandatory.”  Some of Jos’s personal read “SWM Seeking: Must love laughing, family and Penn State football. Can adapt to emotional change in male due to sports addiction. Knowledge of 80’s music mandatory.” We also created a horoscope predicting the funny futures of the guest’s time at their wedding.

For even more hilarious anecdotes we created a two page “Funnies Section” with a jumbled word find, comic and crossword puzzle revealing hidden and hilarious secrets about the couple and details of the wedding.

On the last page of the newspaper we provided guests with a little helpful info such as the “Weather” section to predict to aide in outfit selection and “Travel” section with direction and hotel review information.

Working with clients such a Lindsay & Jos that allow me to be as creative as possible is such a dream come true! Designing custom wedding invitations such as this newspaper wedding invitation is such a great way to show off a personal and humorous touch for your wedding.

We adore the holidays and all things bright and shiny. So when Jaimi of Fiore Beauty asked us to design their holiday card we jumped! We featured Fiore Beauty on our blog a few months back that you can read here. Jaimi wanted a feeling that was vintage, cheeky, beauty inspired and festive and bubbly just like the holidays. With some custom illustrations of makeup, brushes, bobby pins and of course some bubbly champagne, here was the result.

S.W.A.K.

We even got to feature a scarlet red kiss print as a sign off inside of their holiday card, which is very appropo if you know Jaimi! Being able to design for and collaborate with other talented people within the wedding industry is such a delight for us and definitely something we want more of for 2011!

For our final installment of our Persimmon & Plum modern Spanish wedding design in Rancho Santa Fe we’re featuring the Fruit & Nut bar and luxe purple and peach wedding invitation.

When holiday feasts come into mind the flavorful memories of Fall harvest fruits, such as persimmons and plums, and bowls of tempting warm nuts were always present. Geometric milk glass bowls that were raised on cut glass risers featured these fares atop of an antique wooden chest and were displayed along with terracotta roof tiles sprinkled with white blooms to create a patterned backdrop. This gorgeous bowl of persimmons would be beautiful as a centerpiece as well for your Thanksgiving or Fall table to display your table number from.

Milkglass bowls were used for rich vibrant persimmons, black plums and mixed nuts. I used curved terra cotta tiles to create a patterned texture decorated with large white blooms as a backdrop.

I love mixing texture on texture and used green glass as risers for this bowl of persimmon which would make a beautiful centerpiece to hang your table number from.

Peach & Plum Wedding Invitation

Like a piece of fine jewelry, an invitation should sparkle and entice your guests as to what’s to come. Spanish textures and shapes mixed with Pucci inspired retro patterns were used to create this folding invitation. Closed like a book, when opened threads of copper and silver chain and plum silk ribbon allowed it to fold open to reveal the words inside. Real turquoise and copper beads were embellished onto the front of the invitation for a luxurious and rich cover to this wedding invitation book nestled inside of thick white envelopes featuring soft peach liners.

Today we’re featuring part 2 of our Persimmon & Plum modern Spanish wedding design including our darling candy bar in shades ranging from lavender to plum and peach to persimmon.

The peach, persimmon, purple and plum color palette flew over to the candy bar featuring retro shaped milkglass filled with vintage classics such as sprees and pastel creamsicle chews. I love this soft peach terracotta Spanish wall and its darker Spanish tiles as accents!

We gathered various shapes of white milk glass to fill with sweet confections and used cut green glass as risers on top of this vintage Spanish chest. We even included a geometric laser cut.

Flower shaped dessert tags hung with purple and peach pastel satin ribbons showed off a retro Pucci inspired punch of color and style.

In designing these ‘mini-scapes’ of a single setting, it allows me to show you new design ideas that you can take as inspiration for a gorgeous full sized wedding table deisgn. It also shows how something so small and sweet as this lavender and peach candy bar can make a gorgeous design addition to your wedding day.

If you missed our Persimmon & Plum feature on Hostess With The Mostess we wanted to share it with you!

When I think of Fall and short Winter days the sunlight always comes to mind, and how different it looks and feels, as if brighter and crisper, when shining through the falling leaves and against warm terracotta walls. This was my inspiration for a modern take on a Fall or Winter inspired modern wedding. I absolutely love mixing looks and styles and love to show people that they need not be afraid to combine all of theirs loves together.  For this look I combined warm peach terracotta, rich black plums, vibrant persimmon, warm wool plaids, geometrical graphics and clean modern green glass.

Persimmon & Plum Spanish Modern Wedding Tablescape

Rancho Valencia in Rancho Santa Fe served as the backdrop for this modern Spanish Fall inspired tablescape designed for one. An antique bleached wood lounge table served as the base for rich plum wool linens, a vintage Italian silk scarf and clean green glass risers. Geometric white ceramic ware was filled with fragrant purple orchids, black dahlias and soft peach tulips and garden roses. Handmade boiled wool plaids were used for a richly colored napkin ring and a menu wrap to bring in the feeling of a cool and crisp fall afternoon.

Pucci inspired graphics were used to create flower cut name tags.

Modern white vases were paired with plum colored chrysanthemums and fragrant purple orchids.

The custom illustrated menus were tucked into pieces of plum plaid wool.

To create a modern clean look we used thick pieces of cut green glass as plate risers.

Isari Flower Studio created these luxuriously lush flowers including this peach arrangement with parrot tulips, garden roses and ranunculus.
