Secret Garden Wedding Invitations & Sneak Peak

Last spring I had the pleasure of working with such a sweet romantic bride that loved nothing more than nature, shades of green and birds. We wanted to intertwine her love of all things beautiful and natural into their wedding invitations and wanted the feeling of a Secret Garden combined with Wedding. We started with the invitation and created an ornate gate design laser cut onto a rich emerald opalescent paper and combined a custom die cut shaped invitation with a soft ombre fade from sea foam to celery green. Rich floral patterns and illustrations were combined with luxe copper foiled keys and their names for a pop of glamour. For an additional detail we wrapped the whole invitation with a silk green ombre ribbon tied with a skeleton key to give the guests the ‘key to the secret garden’.

See below for more details from this glamorous Secret Garden Wedding including the decor, the unveil of the Secret Garden Dessert Bar and the gorgeous ombre tiered wedding cake.

To stay in theme with the Secret Garden we also used the laser cut belly bands from the invitations to hold each guests menu with their names written on the top of them.

Sweet and Chic Mint, Blush, Lucite and Gold Event Inspiration

There is something so romantic and chic about a soft blush and pale mint mixed with bold gold color palette. It reminds me Paris, the Rococo era, with fluffy little dogs, macarons and powdered white wigs. Maybe I love this color combination so much because it’s almost the same colors of my logo and branding, or because I used it for our Posh Pastel Pop Art Table, or because it can be so effortlessly feminine without being overboard girly. They are soothing and calming colors that bring smiles to our faces and little girls in petticoats to our minds, but it’s the infusion of the non-apologetic bold gold and modern lucite pieces are what takes it from sweet to sophisticated in no time flat. Pair these darling duo of shades with some major bling in the form of a massive gold chandelier, a gold bar dripping with crystals or a barely there lucite table and chairs.

Magical Emerald Green Event Design Inspiration

There is something about rich emerald green that makes me feel refined, regal and very mature. Not only does it calm your senses, give you a sense of tranquility and combats stress, this color is known for good luck and health. It also reminds me of the movie ‘Return to Oz’ when Dorothy had to select every green object to save her furry friends from the horrible Wheelers. From Jade to Emerald to Kelly, each gorgeous vase, lamp or treasure was a reincarnation of her sidekicks.  Ever since that movie whenever I see an object in a beautiful shade of green I want to secretly touch it and feel its magic of who/what it may be.

Why not take this complex magical hue and mix it with bold contrasts of black and white with pops of metal tones such as gold or copper for your next swanky dinner soiree or private event. Mix in contrasting fabrics, tightly arranged white blooms, a few modern ceramic or brass vases and bold furniture statements and voila, a chic and modern Emerald Green event not soon to be forgotten.

Tamera Mowry Get Married Magazine Shoot

We are so excited to finally share with you the Get Married Magazine shoot we designed for Tamera Mowry and her brand new husband, Adam Housely. They were so sweet, ridiculously cute and in love! When Get Married asked me to be a part of the shoot I was so honored, and of course very excited, to work the start of one of my favorite TV shows in the 90′s Sister, Sister. I wanted to design a look that was modern and edgy but still very young, fresh and vibrant to represent this style young couple.

Here is the article that came out in the latest edition of Get Married Magazine out on stands now, make sure to go and get your own copy Brides-t0-be! More detail and design shots to come.

Get a behind the scenes look at my inspiration for this shoot with this Get Married Magazine video clip.

Red, White & Blue all Summer Long…

The 4th of July has come and gone but with it leaves the lingering pride and love for all things American and beachy. From popsicles, tan lines, ice cold coca colas and vintage Frankie and Annette movies, bringing a bit of classic beach into your summer fetes is always a good thing. Don’t want to go overboard on the red, white & blue? Mix in some yellow for a primary splash of color!

Here are a few tips to mix some Americana Seaside style into your summer soirees:

• Mix in a variety of seersucker pillows for your outdoor lounge

• Serve ice cold coca-cola bottles with red and white striped straws from a tray

• Bring out the Beach Blanket Bingo… for real! Toss some big patterned throws and pillows on the grass or sand for a casual lounge space

• In lieu of classic desserts, have an old-fashioned Popsicle cart come to your event

• On the sand? Don’t forget your paddleball, bocce ball and horseshoe sets! Why not make a tournament out of it?
